Fushimiinaritaisha Grand Shrine

Fushimiinaritaisha Grand Shrine

📍 Kyoto

Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of every Inari shrine in Japan and one of Kyoto's oldest. Visitor numbers here rank among the highest in the country, and it is busiest at New Year, on the first of each month, and on days of the horse. It is famous above all as the shrine of business success. The name Inari is sometimes traced to ine-nari, 'rice growing' — as a god of abundant harvest it has always been venerated by farmers, and just as strongly by merchants.

📸 Best photo spotShoot straight through the torii gate to capture the shrine's signature red color and sense of depth.
