Entsuji Temple
📍 KyotoEntsuji occupies the site of Retired Emperor Go-Mizunoo's Hataeda villa, the forerunner of Shugakuin Rikyu. Beyond a dry landscape garden carpeted entirely in green moss, Mount Hiei appears through a screen of trees — an outstanding example of a borrowed-scenery garden. Each season brings its own character, and the garden survives essentially as it was in the retired emperor's day.
