Endonji stands in quiet hill country east of Kumihama. To the right of the main hall is a modern storehouse, connected by a covered walkway. The main hall itself — three bays across the front, four along the side, with a pyramidal roof now clad in copper — retains the character of Momoyama-period work. Inside the storehouse are the principal image, a Yakushi Nyorai, and its attendant Nikko and Gakko bodhisattvas, associated with Prince Kanamaru, son of Emperor Yomei, who is said to have founded the temple. All three are Important Cultural Properties.
