Dainenji Temple

Dainenji Temple

📍 Kyoto

Dainenji stands at the foot of Tennozan, just below Hoshakuji. It is a Pure Land temple founded at the end of the medieval period by Ijiri Chosuke, a local man, who invited Tokuyo Konen of Chion-in to serve as founding priest. Its standing wooden Amida Nyorai, an Important Cultural Property, is a Kamakura-period work. The place carries a distinctly solemn air.

📸 Best photo spotVisit early morning or late afternoon when it's less crowded, for a clearer shot of the gate and grounds.
