Chiisanaaibijutsukan Museum of Art

📍 Kyoto

This small museum stands in the thatched-roof village of Kita in Miyama, a designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The indigo dyer Shindo Hiroyuki, who lives here, has opened his own house to show the indigo textiles he has collected from around the world. The building is a thatched farmhouse built in 1796, and you can look in on the dye workshop as well.

📸 Best photo spotPlease avoid flash photography indoors to protect the exhibits — outdoor exhibit areas, if any, are easier to shoot.
