Five-Story West Pagoda of Janghang-ri

Janghang-ri Temple Site sits in Janghang-ri, Munmudaewang-myeon, Gyeongju, east of Mt. Tohamsan. Since the temple's original name is unknown, it's called by the village name, "Janghang-ri Temple Site."

Originally, an east and a west pagoda stood on either side of the main hall site, but both were toppled by grave robbers; only the west pagoda, which could still be restored, was rebuilt in 1932, becoming the five-story pagoda seen today. Standing 9m tall, it displays the typical features of Silla-era stone pagoda style. The fact that a pagoda toppled by looters was later rebuilt adds special meaning to the walk out to see it.
