Gwangchigi Beach sits along the route from Seongsan Ilchulbong toward Seopjikoji, marking both the end of Jeju Olle Trail Course 1 and the start of Course 2.
The beach's defining feature is its geological formations, left behind as molten lava met the sea and hardened rapidly. At low tide especially, scenery normally hidden beneath the water emerges in full, revealing a hidden beauty. The combination of volcanic rock formations and green moss creates scenery that's genuinely hard to find anywhere else in the world.
Also well known as a photo spot with Seongsan Ilchulbong as a backdrop, it's beloved both by travelers walking the Olle trail and by visitors who come specifically for the photography.
