Gampo Port

Gampo Port, the largest port in Gyeongju, marked its 100th anniversary of opening in 2025.

Fishing boats are a constant presence around the port, and fresh fish changes hands daily by auction at the live-fish market. On the site of the port's breakwater stands Gampo Marine Park, built in 2018, featuring a coastal boardwalk, a hill lined with pinwheels, and sculptures themed around the port.

Notably, the breakwater at Gampo Port is home to a beautiful lighthouse engraved with a relief of the Three-Story Pagoda from the Gameunsa Temple Site, creating scenery unique to this port. It's also well known as a sea-fishing spot, popular with anglers.

Nearby attractions like Jeonchon Dragon Cave, Oryu Goara Beach, and Jeonchon Port make for an easy combined visit. Being close to the Tomb of King Munmu and the Gameunsa Temple Site, it fits naturally into a route exploring Silla's maritime heritage.
