Sinchon Yonsei-ro

Sinchon Yonsei-ro

📍 Seoul

Yonsei-ro runs from Sinchon Station toward Yonsei University's main gate, sitting right where the catchment areas of Yonsei, Ewha Womans, and Sogang universities overlap.

On January 6, 2014, Yonsei-ro was designated a transit mall (daejungyotongjeonyongjigu) — car lanes were reduced and replaced with wide space for pedestrians, buses, and cyclists only.

Despite not being a subway transfer point, it's one of Seoul's liveliest youth-oriented commercial strips. The name "Sinchon" (new village) is said to derive from an old place-name, "Saeteomal."
