Seoul Plaza

Seoul Plaza

📍 Seoul

This oval lawn in front of Seoul City Hall was created in 2004 by converting a traffic roundabout into public space. It's since become the city's signature venue for everything from massive sports cheering rallies to concerts and public demonstrations.

Behind the plaza, the old colonial-era City Hall building (now the Seoul Metropolitan Library) stands in contrast to the glass-fronted new City Hall, and part of the lawn turns into an open-air ice rink in winter.

To protect the grass, the plaza may restrict access on Mondays for a scheduled 'lawn rest day.'

ℹ️ Travel infoOpen at all times, free. Part of the lawn may be closed on Mondays for a scheduled 'lawn rest day.' About a 1-minute walk from City Hall Station (Lines 1/2), Exit 5.
