Seoul Museum of Art, Seosomun Main Branch

📍 Seoul

The main branch of the Seoul Museum of Art has an unusual structure: the Renaissance-style facade of the former Gyeongseong Courthouse (later the Supreme Court building), built in 1928 during the Japanese colonial period, was preserved and now stands in front of a modern gallery building constructed behind it.

It's one of Seoul's leading public art museums, with an active program of contemporary Korean and international exhibitions, and sits right along Deoksugung's stone wall path, easy to combine with a palace visit.

Summer hours (Mar-Oct): Tue-Thu 10 AM-8 PM, Fridays until 9 PM; winter hours (Nov-Feb) run slightly shorter. Closed Mondays and January 1st.
