National Hangeul Museum

Opened in 2014, the National Hangeul Museum is dedicated entirely to Hangeul — the Korean writing system created under King Sejong — covering its invention, history, and use today. It sits right beside the National Museum of Korea (toward Yongsan Family Park), so many visitors combine the two in one trip.

Permanent exhibits let you explore how Hangeul's letters work, alongside rotating special exhibitions and a dedicated play area for kids, making it especially popular with families. There's also a Hangeul library on site with reference materials.

Closed Jan 1 and on Lunar New Year/Chuseok (the library keeps separate weekend/holiday closures); about a 10-minute walk from Ichon Station (Line 4/Gyeongui-Jungang Line).
