National Folk Museum of Korea

Tucked inside the grounds of Gyeongbokgung (just north of Hyangwonjeong pond), the National Folk Museum of Korea covers the everyday life and seasonal customs of Korean people through history. The building itself is a sight to see — it combines the look of several famous wooden structures, including Beopjusa's Palsangjeon pagoda and Hwaeomsa's Gakhwangjeon hall, into one striking exterior.

The permanent exhibits are split into three halls — the History of the Korean People, Korean People's Daily Life, and the Korean Life Cycle — and outdoors there's a recreated traditional village with thatched and tiled-roof houses, great for walking with kids.

Entry is free, and the museum stays open until 8 PM on Saturdays.
