Namsangol Hanok Village

An open-air museum of five Joseon-era hanoks relocated from across Seoul and rebuilt side by side at the foot of Namsan, opened in 1998. It is one of the easiest places downtown to actually step inside hanok interiors.

Each house reflects the social rank and trade it belonged to, with traditional gardens, a pond, and a well. A time capsule sealed in 1994 to mark Seoul's 600th anniversary is buried on the grounds until 2394.

Honest tips: free and uncrowded, so it is a peaceful stroll — far less busy than Bukchon Hanok Village. Weekend traditional craft demonstrations and wedding reenactments make a visit richer if you time it right. The N Seoul Tower cable car station is a ten-minute walk, so it pairs well as one axis of a Namsan route. It is also close to Myeongdong, perfect for a brief stop between shopping.
