Built in 1914, the red-brick Marunouchi station building was restored in 2012 to its original appearance, undoing the damage from WWII air raids. As the heart of Japan's rail network where the Shinkansen departs, the Marunouchi Plaza in front of the station becomes a photo spot in the evening, when the illuminated classical European-style building contrasts beautifully with the modern city skyline. Inside, you'll also find the Tokyo Station Gallery and various character-themed shopping streets.
