Meiji Jingu Shrine

Meiji Jingu Shrine

📍 Tokyo

This shrine honors Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, and despite sitting right beside Harajuku Station, its approach path plunges into dense forest that completely blocks out city noise. The woods were planted with over 100,000 trees donated from across Japan, and a century later they look like natural old-growth forest. Walking the full approach takes about an hour round trip, and you might even catch a traditional wedding procession.

📸 Best photo spotShoot straight through the torii gate to capture the shrine's signature red color and sense of depth.
