Jeolyeong Coastal Trail

A coastal trail along the shoreline below Mt. Bongnae on the western side of Yeongdo — this is Jeolyeong Coastal Trail.

Once a steep, rugged stretch that was hard to access, it was developed into a walking path along the coastline in 2001 as part of a public works project to meet growing demand from local sightseers.

Walking it, you pass totem poles and stone towers, old spots once used for boat outings, and retaining walls decorated with colorful mosaic-tile murals — plenty to see along the way so it never feels dull.

Recognized for its scenic value, it was named one of Korea's five great coastal trails by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2014, and designated a Busan Safe Travel Destination in 2021.

Open sea stretches continuously to the right as you walk, and the trail's end connects naturally into Huinnyeoul Culture Village, making the pairing a popular combined walk.

Honestly, though, the trail itself has no single major landmark — it's a course meant to be enjoyed for the walk itself, so it can feel a bit understated if you're expecting a clear destination.

It's open at all times and free; pairing it with Huinnyeoul Culture Village and Taejongdae for a half-day loop around Yeongdo is recommended.
