Jahamun Tunnel

Jahamun Tunnel

📍 Seoul

Jahamun Tunnel is a roughly 480m tunnel connecting Buam-dong and Cheongun-dong in Jongno-gu. The pedestrian stairway beside it is where Bong Joon-ho's 'Parasite' (2019) filmed its unforgettable rainstorm scene — the Kim family fleeing the wealthy Park household and running downhill through the flood back to their semi-basement home, a scene widely seen as the film's visual symbol of class divide.

Honest heads-up: the stairs themselves are just an ordinary roadside walkway with no special facilities — if you're not a fan of the film, it's easy to walk right past without noticing. Unlike the film's dramatic downpour, it's normally just a quiet residential backstreet.

Local tip: it sits on the slope of Inwangsan Mountain, so wear comfortable shoes for the incline. From Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3), transfer to a bus and get off at 'Jahamun Tunnel Entrance'. It pairs well with a visit to the Buam-dong café street nearby.

ℹ️ Travel infoLocation: near Jahamun-ro 219, Buam-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Take the bus from Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3) and get off at 'Jahamun Tunnel Entrance'. Free, uphill walk — wear comfortable shoes.
📸 Best photo spotThe exact filming spot is at the 'Parasite Photo Zone' sign next to the tunnel, where you can match the stairs and wall from the film.
