A street running along the hillside south of Itaewon, densely packed with restaurants of many nationalities, distinctive bars, and independent cafes. In the mid-2010s it triggered the 'Gyeongnidan Syndrome,' and '~nidan-gil' became a byword for trendy alleys nationwide.

A large foreign resident population gives it clusters of multi-national cuisine, bakeries, and whisky bars, and the atmosphere shifts completely after dark. But soaring rents have shuttered many of the original spots, so photos from a few years ago may not match today.

Honest tips: the slope is genuinely steep, so brace for sweat in summer and watch for ice in winter. Checking recent reviews before visiting helps — the shop ecosystem changes fast. Sunset is the best time for atmosphere, and it is a ten-minute walk from Noksapyeong station. It pairs well with Itaewon, Haebangchon, and Namsan for a full day.
