Mt. Geumjeong

Mt. Geumjeong National Geopark forms the geological foundation of Busan, shaped by granite that cooled underground and rose to the surface about 70 million years ago.

Centuries of wind and rain have carved elegant granite formations throughout the mountain — jagged cliffs, rounded tor rocks, weathered rock-basin pools, inselbergs, and block streams.

Its main peak, Godangbong, connects to several others including Janggunbong, Wonhyobong, and Sanghakbong, with hiking trails winding between them. It's the most familiar weekend hiking destination for Busan locals, and with historic sites like Beomeosa Temple and Geumjeongsanseong Fortress on its slopes, it's a mountain where hiking and cultural exploration go hand in hand.
