Daeseong-dong Tumuli Museum

Daeseong-dong Tumuli Museum

📍 Gimhae

Opened in 2003, the Daeseong-dong Tumuli Museum displays artifacts and materials excavated from the Daeseong-dong tomb cluster (National Historic Site No. 341), the burial ground of Geumgwan Gaya's ruling elite.

The museum has three sections: a main hall with permanent exhibits, an outdoor hall preserving two large tombs exactly as they looked when excavated, and a special-exhibition hall for temporary shows and education programs. The permanent exhibits use replicas, models, and video to make Gaya culture accessible to general visitors, organized around themes like "the kings' final resting place," "society before King Suro," and "revealing the shape of a royal tomb."

The outdoor hall in particular lets you see a tomb cross-section exactly as it was unearthed — a kind of immediacy that photos or reconstructed models can't quite match.

Open 09:00-18:00 (last entry 17:30), closed Mondays, January 1, and Lunar New Year/Chuseok. Free admission, parking available (about 60 small vehicles, 10 large).
