Dadaepo Beach

A beach where the Nakdong River meets the South Sea — this is Dadaepo Beach.

Its sand, deposited by the river over long ages, is notably fine and soft, and the shallow, relatively warm water makes it especially popular with families traveling with young children.

Since the beachfront park and ecological trail were built, the area has stayed lively year-round with paddleboarders and kite surfers, and the plaza at the beach entrance holds the "Dream of Dadaepo" fountain, said to be the world's largest, which puts on a light-and-music show some summer evenings.

Unlike Haeundae or Gwangalli, this is Nakdong estuary tidal-flat terrain, so at low tide a wide mudflat is exposed, and the sunset over it is considered one of Busan's finest.

Honestly, though, it's well to the west of downtown Busan and requires a subway-plus-bus transfer to reach, and it doesn't have the dense cluster of restaurants and shops that Haeundae does, so finding food nearby takes a bit more effort.

The fountain show runs seasonally from late April to early October, so it's worth timing your visit; the beach itself is open at all times and free.
