Bank of Korea Money Museum

Bank of Korea Money Museum

📍 Seoul

The Bank of Korea Money Museum occupies the bank's original headquarters building, built in 1912 during the Japanese colonial period (originally the Seoul branch of the Bank of Chōsen). The Renaissance-style stone building is itself considered one of Seoul's landmark pieces of early modern architecture.

Exhibits cover the history of Korean currency, the evolution of coins and banknotes, and the minting process, along with hands-on displays like counterfeit-detection practice using real old currency. It's close to Namdaemun Market and Hoehyeon Station, easy to combine into the same trip.

Open 10 AM-5 PM. Closed Mondays, the Lunar New Year/Chuseok holidays, Dec 29-Jan 2, Labor Day, and election days.
