Yeonnam-dong Gyeongui Line Forest Park

Yeonnam-dong Gyeongui Line Forest Park

📍 Seoul

A park built over the decommissioned Gyeongui railway line, nicknamed 'Yeontral Park,' connecting directly to the Hongdae area. The long stretch of lawn and tree shade along the old tracks has become a walking and busking spot for younger crowds.

It adjoins the cafes and pubs of Yeonnam-dong's alleys, and weekends bring frequent flea markets, busking, and street dance performances. It is a recurring filming location for K-dramas, variety shows, and music videos, and together with Hongdae it is a symbol of Seoul youth culture.

Honest tips: weekend afternoons are so crowded that finding a seat is hard, and shade is sparse, so midday summer heat is intense — weekday late afternoons or near sunset are the most pleasant. Buying a drink from a Yeonnam-dong cafe and strolling is the classic way to enjoy it, and Hongik University station exit 3 connects directly. At night the mood shifts entirely, drawing crowds to the pubs and live bars.

ℹ️ Travel infoOpen 24 hours, free. Directly connected to Hongik Univ. Station (Line 2, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, Airport Railroad), Exit 3.
📸 Best photo spotShooting straight down the long, narrow path that still traces the old rail line captures the signature 'Yeontral Park' perspective. Cherry blossom season (early April) and sunset are the most popular times to shoot.
