Seoullo 7017

The 1970 Seoul Station overpass, once slated for demolition, was reborn in 2017 as an elevated garden modeled on New York's High Line. The name '7017' encodes 'a road built in 1970, reborn as 17 walking paths.'

About a kilometer long, it holds 645 species of trees and flowers in planters, shifting with the seasons. It doubles as a shortcut between Seoul Station and Namdaemun Market, and the view of Seoul Station from above, set against Namsan, is part of the appeal.

This distinctive elevated-garden scenery has also been reported multiple times as an outdoor location for idol group photoshoots and variety/music-video shoots — the Seoul city tourism office itself promotes the spot as "photogenic," underscoring its recognized status as a filming backdrop.

Honest tips: free and open around the clock, it is good for a short stroll, but treat it as a connecting path rather than a major attraction. Midday has no shade and gets hot, while evenings are softly lit and pleasant. Walk it from Namdaemun toward Seoul Station or in reverse as a natural extension. Seoul Station exit 3 leads directly up.
