Nurimaru APEC House

Nurimaru APEC House

📍 Busan

The venue that hosted the 2005 APEC Summit — this is Nurimaru APEC House.

Its name combines the pure Korean words "nuri" (world) and "maru" (summit) with "APEC House," meaning "the house where world leaders gather for APEC." Leaders who visited at the time are said to have praised it as a top-tier venue combining cutting-edge conference systems with traditional Korean beauty.

The three-story building is known for its modern reinterpretation of a traditional Korean pavilion, or "jeongja," with a roofline said to echo the ridgeline of Dongbaekseom island itself. Set at the tip of the island amid dense camellia and pine forest, it now serves as a memorial hall and conference space since its APEC role ended.

Beyond the building's distinctive architecture, it's also known as one of Busan's top sunset spots — the lit-up building against the evening sky, with Gwangan Bridge visible in the distance, draws photographers at dusk.

Hours are 09:00-18:00 (last entry 17:00), closed the first Monday of each month, free admission.
