Leeum Museum of Art

Leeum Museum of Art

📍 Seoul

Leeum Museum of Art opened in Hannam-dong in 2004, founded by the Samsung family — the name itself combines 'Lee' (family name) and 'Museum.' It's known as much for its architecture as its art: three internationally renowned architects, Mario Botta, Jean Nouvel, and Rem Koolhaas, each designed a separate building, drawing visitors who come just to see the structures.

The collection spans Museum 1 (traditional Korean art — painting, ceramics) and Museum 2 (modern and contemporary art), plus a dedicated space for special exhibitions, covering everything from centuries-old Korean craftsmanship to international contemporary work.

Open 10 AM-6 PM (last ticket sold at 5:30 PM); closed Mondays, January 1st, and the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays. Booking online in advance is recommended.
