Sumohakubutsukan Museum
📍 TokyoFounded on the collection assembled over many years by its first director, Sakai Tadamasa, this museum opened in September 1954 alongside the completion of Kuramae Kokugikan, with the aim of preventing the dispersal of materials documenting sumo as Japan's national sport. It relocated in January 1985 when Ryogoku Kokugikan opened, and remains there today.
