Tsuburaya Productions, creator of Ultraman, kept its old headquarters in Kinuta 7-chome from its founding until 2008, and founder Eiji Tsuburaya's own home was in Soshigaya 3-chome — so the company and the neighborhood have long been intertwined. Embracing this local hero as the district's mascot, three shopping streets surrounding Soshigaya-Okura Station joined forces in spring 2005 to create the Ultraman Shopping Street. You can buy area-exclusive Ultraman merchandise, seasonal events are held throughout the year, and Ultraman figures can be spotted all around the neighborhood.
