Ihwa Mural Village

Part of the 2006 'Art in City' project, these aging hillside alleys were filled with murals and installations — the carp staircase and the sunflower staircase are the most photographed spots. It adjoins Naksan Park, so the two form one route.

But this is not a museum; it is a neighborhood where people actually live. After it went viral on social media, resident complaints mounted and several murals were removed at their request — so older photos may not match what stands today.

Honest tips: respecting residents' privacy and noise is paramount — no peering into windows, no commotion, no trespassing on private property. Avoid early morning or late night visits, and explore courteously during daytime. Murals keep changing over time, so come for the alley stroll itself rather than hunting a specific piece. Paired with Naksan Park it makes a half-day.
