Museum of Contemporary Art Busan

📍 Busan

A museum set on Eulsukdo, a natural monument migratory bird sanctuary — this is the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan.

Opened in 2018 as a public museum run by Busan city, it centers on contemporary art including new media, presenting exhibitions that connect the local and the global, and serves as a new cultural platform for West Busan.

The restrained exposed-concrete facade is regarded almost as a work of art in itself, while the interior is arranged as large, flexible spaces that shift with the character of each exhibition.

Because Eulsukdo itself is a protected natural monument and migratory bird sanctuary at the Nakdong River estuary, stepping out after your visit puts you right on the wetland trails — a distinctive perk of this location.

Honestly, though, it's a bit removed from the city center and requires a transit transfer to reach, and the exhibitions lean toward experimental contemporary art that can feel unfamiliar without some background.

Hours are 10:00-18:00 (last entry 17:30), closed Mondays and January 1st, with the permanent collection free (some special exhibitions charge admission).

📸 Best photo spotThe classic shot pairs the exposed-concrete facade with the Eulsukdo wetlands behind it. Dusk is also good for a silhouette.
