Andersen Fairytale Village

Andersen Fairytale Village

📍 Busan

Set inside the pottery tourism village in Jangan-eup, Gijang County, this is a garden-style exhibit space themed around the world of Danish fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen.

Scenes from his best-known stories — The Little Mermaid, The Little Match Girl, The Ugly Duckling — are recreated as sculptures throughout the grounds, alongside gardens and buildings modeled on 18th-century European Baroque style, giving the whole place a distinctly un-Korean, storybook feel. Since it sits inside a pottery village, you can also try a pottery-making experience nearby.

The biggest draw is that both admission and parking are completely free — a rare, low-pressure stop compared to Busan's other theme-park-style attractions. That said, it's not a huge site, so it works better paired with other Gijang-area spots (like Ahopsan Forest or Lotte World Adventure Busan) than as a standalone half-day trip.

It's closed on Mondays, so check the day before you go. Hours are 9am–6pm, with last entry at 4pm.

📸 Best photo spotThe garden entrance, rebuilt in 18th-century Baroque style, is the signature photo spot. With plenty of dolls and figures scattered around, it's an easy place to grab a shot with your kids next to each character.
